Major Gifts Planned Giving Specialist

We are looking for qualified candidates to fill the following position:

Major Gifts Planned Giving Specialist

Working directly with the Director of Advancement, the Major Gifts Specialist supports the Foundation goals, the long-term sustainability of the school via major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Director of Advancement to achieve the Foundation’s objectives with regards to major gifts and expansion and further develop a culture of philanthropy at ECS. 
  •  Identifies prospective individual and corporate donors and develops strategies to cultivate those relationships.
  • Creates and maintains processes and procedures that promote the team’s greatest effectiveness and efficiency in their relationships with the foundation’s current and potential major donors.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of at least 25 current and potential major donors and maintains active relationships in order to achieve timely and successful solicitations.
  • Prepares convincing proposals for the various fundraising projects of the Foundation and the School, in conjunction with Communications Department
  • Participates in creating and implementing the Foundation’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Oversees the creation of donor-centered proposals and packages.
  • Identifies the list of priorities that are most likely to interest current and potential foundation donors and supplies this information to the Board and Foundation Board to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensures the implementation of the recognition and stewardship plan for each major donor.
  • Aligns major donor wishes with the current strategic priorities of the school; ensures the proper disbursement and use of donations as per donor’s wishes,
  • Works closely with CRM to record on Raiser’s Edge software all relevant information related to the application of the donor cycle for each donor and prospect.
  • Works with the Director of Advancement and CRM to prepare the runway for a Capital Campaign.
  • Participates in cross-team meetings and events.

Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent, ideally in a relevant field such as Fundraising, Project Management, Public Relations, Communications or Marketing;
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience in the not-for-profit sector (donor relations, alumni relations, event management) or equivalent client-focused environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong sense of diplomacy and demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies and build experiences that strengthen long-term relationships with donors and volunteers;
  • Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals;
  • Superior project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple priorities concurrently;
  • Understanding of current and emerging best practices in stewardship, donor engagement and creative fundraising;
  • Ability to work independently, rise to new challenges, find creative solutions, and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment with an unwavering commitment to detail;
  •  Proficient oral and written communication skills in both official languages;
  • Computer proficiency in using the MS Office suite, G Suite, and experience with donor databases such as Raiser’s Edge will be considered an asset;
  • Available to occasionally work flexible hours (including some evenings).
