The “Ugly Delicious” podcast!

June 17th, 2025

Our Grade 7 entrepreneurs took on the United Nations' “Zero Hunger” goal by launching Ugly Delicious, a podcast addressing a major issue in our society: food waste.

They invited two professional nutritionists, Alisia Agostinelli from Clinique Vivago and Rosemarie Cianti from Openspace Clinic, to taste-test and review their meals. Students transformed ingredients often destined for the compost bin, such as bruised produce or items nearing their expiry date, into nutritious and delicious dishes. The concept was simple but powerful, finding value in what others overlook.

Throughout the project, students gained hands-on experience building a business with purpose. From market research and branding to recipe development and content creation, they learned what it takes to launch a socially conscious product. The journey culminated in a live taste test where the nutritionists provided expert feedback on the students’ culinary creations.

More than just a podcast, Ugly Delicious is a platform for change. Through this initiative, our students hope to spark conversations about food waste and inspire families to make more mindful choices in the kitchen.
