Annual Giving

Your gift is a show of support to our school’s Vision and Mission, your investment in our girls, and all that girls can do to become the entrepreneurs of their own future.
At the heart of our fundraising each and every year, the Annual Giving fuels not only special projects, but also our NOW Fund and our Scholarships & Bursaries Fund. We salute the many Old Girls, current and past parents, faculty, staff and ECS friends who believe in our commitment to education.
Strong participation in Annual Giving reflects our investment in our community and gives us the working capital to turn big ideas into transformative realities.

In true ECS spirit, we aim to have all members of our ECS family contribute to our $450,000 Annual Giving Appeal goal for the 2021-2022 school year

Please give as generously as you can. We are grateful for the trust you place in our small but powerful school.

Scholarships & Bursaries

At ECS, we believe that every child should have access to an excellent education regardless of socio-economic status. Our founders believed that education empowers and enlightens young minds thus paving the way to a brighter future. As Felicia stated in her speech, a century after the founding of our school, education remains the tool that changes lives for the better.

Our Scholarships and Bursaries support our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), by reaching out to students who belong at ECS but would not be able to attend without financial support. A primary goal of the fund is to attract students with high level academic acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.

Supporting Scholarships and Bursaries now has an impact for generations to come.

Special Project: Back Field of Dreams

This year’s special project is the long awaited renewal of the back field. Let’s create an outdoor oasis for Junior, Middle and Senior school students.

An improved back field brings the following benefits:
  • Inviting outdoor learning space, so necessary coming out of COVID;
  • Clean and level athletic surface for Junior, Middle and Senior school;
  • Renewed designated play area;
  • Optimal use of this precious urban resource.

NOW Fund (New and Ongoing Wishes)

Our NOW Fund helps support initiatives that have an immediate impact in daily school life.

This year we are focusing on:

Technology & Robotics for Middle and Senior School

Technology & Robotics is designed to provide more learning opportunities for our students. Enhanced technological equipment in our Science & Technology programming for Middle and Senior School, inspires all of our students from K-11.

Specialized Book Collections for Junior School
In-Classroom Enrichment

As we all know reading is an integral element of learning. The Junior School is looking to develop their book collections to be used in book clubs at every grade level (K to 6). These highly specialized book collections in the context of book clubs help to improve our students’ confidence, maintain their interest in reading and inspire many forms of expression. The benefits are endless as this would foster teamwork, their ability to listen and react, as well as creating a sense of community.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 6 items.

  • Why is Annual Giving important? What does it fund?

    Simply put, Annual Giving funds many of the “extras” that make an ECS education so worthwhile. The generous support of our community bridges the gap between tuition income and the actual cost of an ECS education, providing flexibility within our operating budget to offer the enrichments that set ECS apart.
  • Do all independent schools fundraise?

    Yes, all independent schools fundraise. Tuition does not cover the true cost of educating a student.
  • Why doesn’t ECS simply raise tuition to cover the true cost of an ECS education?

    We endeavour to keep our tuition comparable to that of our peer schools, and at a level that makes an ECS education accessible to students from diverse financial backgrounds. Also, Annual Giving donations are tax deductible, whereas tuition is not.
  • Is my gift tax-deductible?

    Annual Giving donations are tax deductible. We will issue you a charitable giving receipt. ECS’ Registered Charitable Number is: 107279218 RR 0001
  • Why do we aim for 100% participation?

    100% participation is evidence of our community’s belief in our mission, as we all come together to support our school. This is in line with our foundational Non Nobis principle: as we instill in our girls the essential value of giving to their city and world, we model it through our own investment in their school. Robust participation in the Annual Fund sends a message of stability to prospective families, foundations, and other outside funding partners.
  • I can’t give much; does my small donation really make a difference?

    Yes! Every gift has an impact, helping to fund needs large and small. Each donation gets us closer to our goal of 100% participation and demonstrates your investment in our girls. We ask that you give at a level that is personally meaningful and that makes sense for your family.
