K-12 Network Administrator
Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s (ECS) is a small by design, community-oriented independent girls’ school in the Montreal area. We embrace a progressive approach to 21st century learning with a focus on cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset in students from K-11. ECS is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated K-12 Network Administrator. The Network Administrator will report directly to the Director of Finance and be responsible for IT throughout the school, including the administration, management, and support of network systems, ensuring optimal performance and security across all digital platforms within our educational institution.
K-12 Network Administrator
Full-Time (100%) contract with the potential for permanent placement.
Start Date: May 2025
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Google Administration certification obtained no later than 2018.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in K-12 network or systems administration.
Available to be on-site every school day.
The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking 3,000 steps and climbing 30 flights of stairs per day.
Bilingualism is an asset.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Proficiency in network management tools and technologies, systems administration, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) technologies.
Experience with K-12 app and program management and system integration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with both Mac OS devices and environments.
Hands-on experience with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
Strong problem-solving abilities; capable of performing under pressure.
Experience with system documentation, maintenance schedules, and asset management.
A capacity to participate in the full range of school life and adapt to changes as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance & Upgrades
Monitor and maintain continuous network availability, performing regular updates and maintenance to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of all devices and software.
Coordinate and maintain both local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), ensuring reliable and consistent connectivity.
Establish, operate, maintain, and coordinate the use of local and wide area networks.
Administer and optimize Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks to improve the school's infrastructure and support educational objectives.
Perform data backups, implement and manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) with Mosyle.
Manage printer, photocopier and projector systems to ensure operational efficiency.
Ensure connectivity and performance of all devices and software within the networks.
User Support:
Provide ongoing technical support to faculty, staff, and students, including the setup of security measures, software installations, and troubleshooting.
Provide problem-solving support and technical assistance to network users.
Administer and monitor Google Workspace user accounts and services, ensuring proper access controls, security, and compliance with school policies.
Maintain and manage hardware and software assets to ensure optimal system performance and accurate inventory records.
Coordinate the installation and setup of audiovisual equipment in classrooms and school facilities to enhance the learning environment.
Assist with setting up and supporting technology for students requiring accommodations, ensuring equitable access to digital resources.
Security:
Implement and manage network security protocols, including network routing and cybersecurity measures, to protect data and infrastructure from potential threats.
Regularly evaluate and address vulnerabilities, ensuring all systems comply with best practices and relevant regulatory standards.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues quickly to minimize system downtime.
Respond promptly to network emergencies, providing swift troubleshooting and resolution to restore operations.
Execute disaster recovery procedures when needed, maintaining system integrity and ensuring business continuity.
Administration:
Maintain a comprehensive inventory of parts for emergency repairs, and collaborate with vendors to procure new systems or upgrades.
Oversee DNS administration and ensure that network configurations align with the school's evolving needs.
Monitor and manage software licensing to ensure compliance with vendor agreements and optimal resource usage.
Documentation:
Keep detailed records of repairs, updates, and maintenance activities to create an accurate system history that aids future troubleshooting.
Develop and update network documentation to reflect changes in infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
