Position Summary:

As ECS launches its Pre-University (Grade 12) Programme, the Pre-University Coordinator will support students’ academic and personal growth as they prepare for a successful transition into university. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Middle and Senior School, faculty, and the Post-Secondary Counselling Team, the Coordinator will help ensure a structured and meaningful Grade 12 year.  

The ideal candidate brings experience in education and mentorship who thrives in a dynamic, student-centered environment. 


 

Responsibilities:

Programme Leadership

  • Work closely with the Director of the Middle and Senior School to ensure consistent, transparent communication and reporting to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the ECS Pre-University Programme in alignment with ECS’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure curricular coherence, academic rigour, and meaningful experiential learning opportunities.
  • Lead the coordination of key Pre-University milestones and events (e.g., orientation, retreat, leadership programming, graduation planning, and university transition workshops).
  • Support the integration of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) academic requirements.
  • Collaborate with Northern Pre-University's (NPU) Assistant Head of School to implement the curriculum and advise students on course selections.
  • Support the integration of experiential and academic components with Directors and Coordinators. 

Student Support & Mentorship

  • Primary point of contact for Pre-University students, providing guidance, encouragement, and individualized support throughout the year.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and oversee the delivery of progress reports.
  • Partner with the Post-Secondary Counselling Team to ensure a smooth and informed transition to post-secondary pathways.
  • Team teach and/or facilitate 1–2 subjects per semester, depending on qualifications and student enrollment.
  • Coordinate and proctor exam sessions according to programme guidelines.
  • Oversee classroom management

Leadership & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Director of Middle and Senior School in programme planning, scheduling, and evaluation.
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to reports related to student achievement and programme outcomes.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 
    • Assets: 
      • Degree in Education 
      • Experience in Guidance Counselling
      • Master’s degree
  • Proven teaching or leadership experience in senior level education. Experience with Pre-University programming is an asset.
  • Bilingualism required: a mastery of the English language and fluency in French. 
  • Understanding of adolescent development, post-secondary preparation, and student support practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
