Pre-University at ECS

Student Life

ECS's 360° approach to education integrates personal growth and the exploration of interests. In Pre-University, students can shape their own individualized experience, while remaining connected to the broader community. They have greater autonomy in how they manage their time, participate in school life, and pursue leadership, all with an emphasis on balance and well-being.

Clubs & Co-Curriculars

Specific to the Pre-U students:

  • Orientation Day
  • Student Retreat
  • Exclusive Clubs: option to create their own clubs.

Students have full access to the current ECS co-curriculars:

  • Athletics, Music and Clubs (journalism, debate, and chess among a vast selection). Clubs may vary each year depending on student interest.
  • House System: Students will be placed in one of ECS’s three Houses (or remain in their current House if they are existing ECS students)
  • Mandatory Events: Founders’ Day, Remembrance Day, and other commemorative ceremonies.
  • Flexible Events: Activities such as Terry Fox Run, student assemblies, Winter Games, etc.

Leadership Opportunities

  • Students will elect a class representative. Additional roles will be determined during the retreat based on student interest and initiative.
  • Signature Programmes: Non-Nobis Philanthropy Programme and Her Future by Design.

Wellness

As part of ECS’s commitment to fostering independence and encouraging work-life balance, all Pre-University students receive memberships to the historic Atwater Club. They have access to a wide range of benefits, from state-of-the-art fitness facilities and classes, to an off-campus work space.

Every Wednesday morning, students participate in a dedicated Health and Wellness Block at the Atwater Club. During scheduled independent study periods (11:00 am - 1:00 pm), they may choose to remain at the club or return to ECS, allowing them to manage their time and work environment independently.

Membership Benefits at a Glance:

  • Access to facilities: Includes a fitness centre, squash and badminton courts, steam, sauna, common spaces, on-site cafe, and private spaces.
  • Unlimited group classes: Essentrics, yoga, dance, strength training, and more.
  • Luxury amenities: Concierge, tailor, barbershop, laundry services, and luxury products.
  • Social events: Soirées and networking events.

And much more.

Through this experience, students will build sustainable routines that prioritize time management, personal wellbeing, and community engagement. These skills are essential in university, professional settings, and throughout life.
