Pre-University at ECS

Student Life

Pre-University students have full access to ECS clubs, athletics, and leadership opportunities. Their experience is further distinguished by flexible event participation and a membership to the Atwater Club. This structure allows them to remain connected to the school community while shaping a more independent experience.

Clubs & Co-Curriculars

Specific to the Pre-U students:

  • Orientation Day
  • September Kick-Off Retreat
  • Option to create their own club(s)

Students have full access to current ECS co-curriculars:

  • Athletics, Music and Clubs (journalism, debate, and chess, among a vast selection). Clubs may vary each year depending on student interest.
  • House System: Students will be placed in one of ECS’s three Houses (or remain in their current House if they are existing ECS students).
  • Mandatory Events: Founders’ Day, Remembrance Day, and other commemorative ceremonies.
  • Flexible Events: Activities such as Terry Fox Run, student or Heads' assemblies, Winter Games, etc.

Leadership Opportunities

  • Students will elect a class representative. Additional roles will be determined during a kick-off retreat in September based on student interest and initiative.
  • Signature Programmes: Non-Nobis Philanthropy Programme and Her Future by Design.

Wellness

ECS is committed to instilling a healthy work-life balance. We provide a membership to the Atwater Club, , where students partake in a dedicated Health and Wellness Block every Wednesday morning. During scheduled independent study periods (11:00 am - 1:00 pm), they may choose to remain at the club or return to ECS, allowing them to manage their time and work environment independently. These skills are essential in university, professional settings, and life.

Membership Benefits at a Glance:

  • Access to facilities: Includes a fitness centre, squash and badminton courts, steam, sauna, common spaces, on-site cafe, and private spaces.
  • Unlimited group classes: Essentrics, yoga, dance, strength training, and more.
  • Luxury amenities: Concierge, tailor, barbershop, laundry services, and luxury products.
  • Social events: Soirées and networking events.

And much more.

Land Acknowledgment

The ECS community acknowledges that the land on which we learn is the ancestral territory of the Kanien'kehá (Mohawk) Nation. We honor the continued presence of Indigenous peoples on this land and remain wholeheartedly committed to working towards reconciliation.

ECS is a private school for girls that offers educational services in English from kindergarten to secondary 5, leading to the secondary school diploma (MEQ).
